Best casino award goes to 888.com Online casino 888.com has scooped the Best Online Casino of the Year prize at the first ever 2005 eGaming Awards. The casino, which launched in 1997, also won the Best Overall Online Gaming Operator of the Year award. The website was praised by judges for its "unparalleled reach and marketing effort in the casino sphere" and its "complete control of the value chain". John Anderson, 888 Holdings' chief executive, said: "These awards are hugely important to us. "It was especially pleasing to be acknowledged by the people within the industry. These awards recognise the hard work of all our staff and the continued drive to be the best within the industry." Online casinos and gambling is a booming industry, with the 500 guest-gala black tie event outlining its continuing strength. Inside Edge, the UK's largest consumer gambling magazine has also awarded 888.com with the title of Best Online Casino of the Year, at its own awards ceremony earlier this year. Other accolades at the eGaming Awards included Ladbrokes winning the award for Best Innovation and Betfair acknowledged as the most Socially Responsible site. Bodog.com also won the Best Online Marketing Campaign, with Poker Stars scooping the Best Poker Operator award.
