Sir Richard Branson's Virgin group has relaunched its Virgin Poker site, becoming the latest big player to attempt to stake their claim in the ever-popular online gambling sector. Launched via a party in Sir Richard's garden in Holland Park, Virgin Poker is expected to achieve fast results in the competitive industry, thanks to the powerful backing of Branson's Virgin empire. "Virgin Poker will use the resources of sister companies throughout the Virgin group to add new value to our players' experience," said Simon Burridge, the chief executive of Virgin Games, according to the Guardian. A recent demonstration of this method was shown by the group's aviation arm, Virgin Atlantic, linking up with the poker site to award air miles to competing players to encourage entry to the site. Apart from a range of online games, the site intends to include blogs by players, poker writers and gaming enthusiasts, as well as a 'poker school', offering tutorials to players new to the game. "We want to make poker accessible," said Joshua Morris, a product marketing manager. "There will be no intimidation factor as we are going after the mass market," he added.
