Pacific Poker has stated that Windows-only website Party Poker will not produce Macintosh-compatible software as it does not feel it would be cost-effective. Poker players who currently use Mac-compatible poker room Pacific Poker are reportedly debating if and when they will gain access to Party Poker's games, which are predominantly used by people with the Windows operating system and cannot be accessed by Mac users. The Mac system currently runs using Java and any online game that want to take advantage of the Mac market would have to be able to operate on the Java platform. Due to Mac users' interest in Party Poker, it has responded that due to the costs involved it would not make sense for it to produce new software for an alternative operating system, according to Pacific Poker, It said that it was looking at possible upgrades and would reconsider its position should the potential revenue from targeting Mac users overtake the costs in producing the necessary software. However, Mac users already have access to several leading poker websites. In October last year Pacific Poker was listed as one of two 'no download' Mac websites which are rating in the top ten online poker sites spanning several operating systems. The second Mac website in the top ten, the Poker Room, was particularly noted for its high quality graphics. Pacific Poker states that although Mac users are currently happy with the poker sites they have access to, players are looking forward to more gaming options in the future.
