Poker loving British students are participating in the first ever nationwide Student Poker Tour, launched in conjunction with an online poker website. Pokerroom.com, the world's third largest poker website, launched the tour on February 20th to find the best Texas Hold 'Em student player in the UK. The tour kicked off in Liverpool in February, with plans to visit Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, Nottingham, Leicester, Birmingham and London, before terminating in Bristol tomorrow. Thousands of students have thus far participated in the competition. The first round is played on the university campus, where prospective hustlers can pick up advice from pokerroom.com experts. The online competition takes place the next day, with the winner from each university proceeding to the final. The top ten online poker players will then meet in final on March 11th to battle it out to win a brand new £15,000 sports car. PokerRoom.com's chief executive Patrick Selin, said: "With the launch of the Student Poker Tour, we are taking the exciting world of poker directly to a growing audience and developing a relationship with a previously untapped market. "We aim to show students that anybody can be a great Texas Hold 'Em player given the tools and the know-how from PokerRoom.com."
