Swedish gaming companies Boss Media and Svenska Spel are to launch the world's first government-owned and licensed online poker room tomorrow. Both Boss Media and Svenska Spel, which is owned and licensed by the Swedish government, said that they have a long history of collaboration, but that this will be their first joint venture relating specifically to poker. Under the agreement, Boss Media licenses the technical components of the poker site to Svenska Spel, which actually owns the site. While there are approximately 140 government-owned and licensed gaming companies, in the world, Svenska Spel will be the first to launch an online poker room. Svenska Spel's won approval from the Swedish government for the site back in November 2005. Since then Boss Media has been working to integrate a system offering high-level poker entertainment while adhering to reasonable gaming procedures. Poker 777 quoted Boss Media president Johan Berg, saying: "Gaming responsibility is a critical factor for the government-owned licensed gaming companies. Our solution is clearly more advanced that what is available on the market today. "It creates greater security for the end-users as well as for the gaming company since they gain increased control of the gaming operations."
