American Roulette Rules
American Roulette is casino game where players have to spin a wheel and guess the number where the ball will come to rest. It can seem complicated to some players, but it an easy game. One must be familiar with the layout of the table and the types of betting before attempting play.

A roulette wheel has thirty-eight divisions with numbers from 1 to 36, 0 and 00. Players place the bet on a specific number and then the wheel rotates. When the ball comes to rest on a particular number, that person wins. The number arrangement is identical so that the ball has an equal chance of coming to rest in any division.

The beauty of the game lies in the two different types of betting. Inside betting implies betting on the inner part of the table, while outside betting means betting on the outer section of the table. Every table has a limit on the smallest and largest amount that one can wager. Within these limits, players can wager any amount.

First, we consider the rules of inside betting. In this, one has to place a bet equal to the smallest bet on the table. One makes the straight up bet on one number and the chances of winning are thirty-five is to one. One can place a split bet on two adjoining squares where the payoffs are automatically half.

In a split bet one wagers on a line of three numbers with the chip placed on the rim of the line. The probability of winning is eleven is to one. One can make two street bets in a line bet with a payoff of five is to one. One can bet on four adjoining squares, called a corner bet and it pays eight is to one. A five-bet permits the player to bet on 5 numbers, 0, 00,1,2,3, with payoffs of six is to one. Here the chip takes a place on the intersection of two rows.

In outside bets, too every player has to equal the least bet on the table. This type of betting does not consider the two zeros. In a dozens bet the payout is double the wager. The betting is on three squares that stand for numbers from 1 to 36. A high and low bet is an even bet, with betting on the lower section of numbers.

In colors, one can wager on a red or black result with an even payout. Odd and even is an even bet wagered on odd and even results. One can wager on an entire column that is three squares at the underside of the inside table. This is also a double bet.

The house edge and the payoffs are thus different for different types of bets. The winning number on screen shows the winning number of the last thirteen spins. Some types of roulette have a surrender option where one forfeits half the bet. However, the house advantage is much less than that in other wagers.

American roulette is thus different from European roulette, but with minor variations in the rules. The game becomes enjoyable and exciting once the person learns all the rules and betting techniques. One can win huge amounts of money after gaining knowledge about the ropes of the game.
